I am deeply opposed to the use of generative AI in creative spaces. I support communities fighting data centers and recognize that fight relies on less AI usage in general. I don’t believe in stealing from artist to pay billionaire tech giants.
As a result, I conduct myself in the following manner:
I do not use generative AI in the research or writing of any of my works.
I use only artists who portray themselves as not using AI for cover and character art.
My publisher, Bywater Books, has a strict no-AI policy.
I use Canva to create social media assets, including the Sapphic Books as Dog Breeds posts. However, I use it with the intention of not utilizing AI. How successful I am is unknown due to the nature of Canva’s obfuscation around the issue of AI.
I use Duck Duck Go noAI to find images of dogs to avoid AI images. I try to only feature human-made book covers in my posts promoting other authors, however, I am not an expert at identifying AI covers. I am always happy to have others point out where I may have accidentally utilized an AI generated image so I can correct it.
